Why is it made from Bamboo?
We (us humans) have created a huge waste problem especially, so as a new design company for life style products we are committed to designing and producing ranges of lifestyle products which have less impact on our planet. Although this type of tableware is only 75% biodegradable we believe that its a step in the right direction.
Bamboo is a natural, renewable resource, that is biodegrable and helps the planet. One of the fastest growing plants in the world, able to be harvested in 3-5years.Requires very little water to grow, doesn’t required fertilisers to thrive.Naturally antibacterial & sterile, no need for pesticidesHarvesting can occur frequently with very little damage to its surrounds. After harvesting, virtually every part of the plant is used, very little wastage.Additionally bamboo produces 35% more oxygen than any other plant
Is it Dishwasher Safe?
Yes they are dishwasher safe
Can you use it in the Microwave?
No, the bamboo dinnerware is made from natural fibres which won't tolerate being cooked in the microwave or oven. However the bamboo cups are suitable for drinking hot or cold drinks in, and the bamboo plates or bowls for serving hot or cold food on.
Does the dinnerware break?
It is strong, but porous and does crack under strong impact, I say its durability is between plastic and ceramic or glass. It doesn't tend to shatter under strong impact, making it great for families and small children, and it is great for taking camping or on a picnics. But please treat it with respect for example don't use the cup as a cricket ball or sit on plate as it could crack.
Where is it made?
Our factory is based in the bamboo region of China, Anhui. We’d love to manufacture locally in Australia but we couldn't find any factories or bamboo :( Bamboo is native to china and they have the amazing technology to manufacture these products. However we are always on the look out for new manufacturers to produce better environmentally sustainable products, so please let us know if you hear of any?
What are these designs about? why do you have dugong on a plate?
We love the sea and our first collection is inspired by sea life, coral reefs and sea animals which are under threat. Dugongs are lovely docile ancient animals which are threatened by our modern way of life and we think they are underrated, and deserve to be talked about and protected more. With our products each design aims to spark conversation and contribution.
We believe in contributing through design and 5% of all profits go to help restore the reef
